Diversified Services Inc. provides pre-vocational services (activities and classes designed to prepare for employment including opportunities where work skills can be practiced) and day services (activities designed to enrich lives outside of work) to adults with developmental disabilities.
This is the usual procedure for setting up our services for an individual with a disability.
Other things to think about:
This is the usual procedure for setting up our services for an individual with a disability.
- Our clients have long-term care funding of some sort (Inclusa, I.R.I.S.) to pay for our services. If the individual does not have funding, the first step is to go to the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) at the Burnett County Government Center – 715-349-2100. This agency will help the individual find out what programs they qualify for and help them get signed up.
- When funding is arranged, talk to the case worker about the individual’s desire to work with DSI. Please keep in mind that eligibility for the ‘facility-based pre-vocational’ services we provide (working at our factory) is restricted by WIOA to individuals aged 25 and older unless other criteria have been met.
- The case worker will contact DSI and make arrangements from there.
- Individuals are welcome to come to DSI for a tour to see our programs and to assess which programs will best meet their needs. Call 715-349-5915 to schedule a visit. DSI is open 8am-4pm, Mon.-Thurs.
Other things to think about:
- Transportation to and from work. DSI has buses that can pick up people in the mornings and drop them off in the afternoons. This service can be paid by long-term care funding or by the individual. Transportation at other times is the individual’s responsibility. DSI does not guarantee the availability of transportation services. Buses have limited room and routes have limited coverage areas.
- Individual’s preferred work schedule. The facility is open Monday – Thursday, 8am to 4pm, but DSI can accommodate flexible schedules.
- Special accommodations needed by the individual. DSI does not generally have staff help with toileting, eating, or medication distribution.
